Preface
I was sinking . sinking deeper down into the cold, dark, heavy water, my vision blurring and flickering at the edges, though I really didnt know if I had closed my eyes or if they were still open, the water was just too black to see anything.
I had never wanted to let it get that far, but now, with my lungs screaming and my throat aching, I felt that it was the right thing to do, and the only thing that was really left for me to do, after all.

Chapter Two
As we got out of Mikeys car and into the Ways house, something changed. For me, it always did as soon as I stepped over the houses threshold.
At home, I lived alone with my mum, and though the atmosphere in our house was friendly, it never was that full of love like it was at the Ways. They cared so much for Mikey, and I didnt know if it was a product of Gerards escapades, or just the way they treated their children and the older son had just gone a different path for himself.
Mikeys mum greeted me warmheartedly. Oh, hello Frank, long time no see, honey!
